I am glad that you are visiting our web page. Whether you are a longtime church-goer or simply feeling a longing you can’t quite name, we have a place for you here. The best way to get to know us is to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 11:30 p.m. in our upstairs chapel. We hope that you will stay for a few minutes after the service and join us for coffee hour. We welcome the chance to get know you.
First Baptist is a progressive, LGTBQ+ affirming congregation in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. It will not take you long to discover that we are truly family to one another. We gather each week to experience the living God in worship, and to offer hope, healing, and home in the spirit of the One who offers it to us first. We believe Christ’s presence in our lives can lead us to live and love boldly, to heal, to forgive, to tell the truth, to pray and sing, to do justice and offer mercy, and to celebrate God’s promise of new life.
If you are coming by car you can park for free between the hours of 8:30 am and 6:00 pm. Parking is located at Liberty Place Parkway Parking Garage which has entrances on 16th and 17th Streets between Chestnut & Market. Once you reach the corner of 17th and Sansom come to our entrance on Sansom Street and you can either walk or take the elevator to the second floor chapel.
Please contact me if there is any way we can support you on your pilgrimage of faith. May God be with you in your search for a church home and we delight in the possibility that it might be with us.
