Rev. James Williams,
Pastor
Greetings friends!
I’m delighted to have the opportunity to introduce you to the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. For over 320 years, FBC-Philadelphia has served as a consistent and prophetic voice within the City of Philadelphia. From our humble beginnings as a small-but-dedicated group of abolitionist Baptists until present day, we have been dedicated to fostering spiritual growth in our community, all-the-while serving those whom Jesus identified as “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) – the poor, the sick, the lonely, the marginalized, the oppressed, and the destitute. We have made it our mission to make the Kingdom of God known “on earth as it is in heaven”, a community we see lived out in diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community. And while our efforts have looked different throughout the centuries, our purpose has never changed.
As always, we are in the process of re-envisioning and reimagining what it looks like to be the people of Christ in our city; this is particularly true during following the coronavirus-19 pandemic. As you explore our pages, I’d like to invite you to join us in this process. Please reach out to us — don’t be a stranger! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. We love you, and we’re honored to get to know you.
In Christ,
Pastor James
